Hey, I'm

Rachel Markon

Brooklyn-based educator and school leader working to make schools more equitable, one classroom at a time.

What drives me

I got into education because I believe every kid deserves a teacher who sees them, challenges them, and fights for them. After nearly a decade in NYC public schools, I've seen what's possible when we commit to doing the hard work.

Now I spend my days coaching early-career teachers, pursuing my doctorate at NYU Steinhardt, and thinking about how we build schools that actually serve all students, not just the ones the system was designed for.

What I believe

Equity over equality

Every student needs something different. Our job is to figure out what.

Teachers are leaders

The best school reform happens in classrooms, led by teachers who are supported and trusted.

Do the hard work

Anti-racist education isn't comfortable. That's kind of the point.

Relationships first

Trust between teachers and students is the foundation everything else is built on.

Let's connect

Always happy to talk about education, equity, or teaching.
